Many women with large breasts have very significant problems, including marked physical discomfort and social difficulties with clothing sport and unwanted attention. A breast reduction is an excellent operation in the right patient.

Surgery performed under general anaesthetic. It is best for removing excess breast and fatty tissue, and lifting up the breasts to a more youthful position. The procedure usually involves reducing the size of the areola or pinky brown area around the nipple. The procedure usually takes about 2 hours, and you will be in hospital for one or 2 nights.

Most patients are reasonable comfortable at 1 week. Driving may take 2-3 weeks. It may be 2 to 3 months before it is safe to return to vigorous physical activity.
