Liposuction is an excellent body contouring and shaping tool, it is not a weight loss operation.
It can be performed under local or general anaesthetic.
This can be done as a day case.
It is best used for localised deep fatty tissue which is resistant to diet and exercise.
The procedure usually takes about 1 hour although this varies.
We use a technique called tumescent surgery.
This involves injecting volumes of fluid containing local anaesthetic and adrenaline. You wear a compression garment for 6 weeks after surgery.
Most patients are able to walk, drive and even work within 1 week. The result continues to improve for up to 6 months
